SHOWERS OF BLESSING

We see plants, creepers and trees which are planted by the rivers growing rapidly and lusciously (Jeremiah 17:8; Psalm 1:3). In the same way the Lord blesses His children like well nurtured plants and pillars carved to adorn a palace. The Bible says, "That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style" (Psalm 144:12). Just like a father who does everything to make his children happy, our Eternal Father also wants to bless us, His children in an abundant measure. It is stated in the Bible, "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon" (Psalm 92:12). When we are perfectly blessed by God, we too shall prosper in life. It is God's desire that we should prosper and be in good health even as our soul prospers (3 John 2). But when we are confronted by difficulties we feel that God has forgotten us. But the Lord promises us, "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!" (Isaiah 49:15).
According to the promise, "The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing" (Psalm 34:10), we are waiting only to receive His abundant blessings. "You shall surely clothe yourselves with them all as an ornament, And bind them on you as a bride does." Isaiah 49:18. Blessings come to us from all sides. The Lord wants us to rejoice just like a bride who rejoices wearing her ornaments and new dresses. We need not go seeking after blessings. It is recorded in the Bible that blessings came in search of Rebecca (Genesis 24th chapter). She never thought about her marriage. But Eliezer the servant of Abraham brought her gold and silver jewelry and articles of clothing. He also gave costly gifts to her brother and to her mother. Her brother and her mother replied, "Let the girl remain with us ten days or so; then you may go." Finally Rebecca's brother greeted her saying, "Our sister, may you increase to thousands upon thousands" and blessed her (Genesis 24:60). Then Eliezer took Rebecca back to his place.
Even in my life the Lord made all the blessings come seeking after me. I did not even think about my marriage. When I was doing my II year B. Com, my elder sister was not married. So I wanted to do MCom, and then relax at home for a year before getting married. I was very happy since I knew I would get married only after my sister. But while my husband's parents were looking out for a suitable bride for him, he told them, "I want a girl who is godly and 5' 6" tall." When his parents came to our house they selected me because my sister was of short stature. When my mother asked me, "Are you interested in this marriage?" I replied, "Let me finish the final year studies . You can think about my marriage later. Can't you wait for one more year?" My mother told me "You go and say this to Bro. D.G.S. Dhinakaran who loves you as his own daughter. Then he would certainly agree." I told him the same. He replied affectionately, "You come to my house not as my daughter-in-law but as my daughter. You can do your final year studies from my house. Even if you want to do higher studies you can do it." Even the mother whom God gave me took me as her own daughter. This is how blessing came seeking after me. The Lord also provided a suitable life partner for my sister. Both our marriages were conducted in a grand manner. Dear Friend! The Lord shall make such blessings come seeking after you also. You need not go behind them. My Heavenly Father, who loves me just as how a mother loves her daughter, is able to bless you too. When you love the Lord, blessings shall come seeking after you from all sides.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
You are the source of all blessings. Your blessings alone can make a person rich because You add no sorrow along with it. Grant me the grace to trust You in everything that You do for me knowing that it would be the best for me. On this day, shower the blessings which You have in store for me and make me glad.
In the precious and matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I pray.
