THE NAMES OF GOD

TODAY'S  MEDITATION   Psalm 33:21    "In him our hearts rejoice,       for we trust in his holy name."   We don't name God the way we name people. There is only one God, hence he does not need a name. Whereas, since we are many people in the world we need names as a means of identification. But God is known for His qualities. We worship God having in mind His qualities and we trust Him for his qualities. Since God is eternal and does not change His qualities also do not change. To that extent our trust in God increases. God is love, God is merciful, God is compassionate, God is forgiving, God is kind, God is lovingkindness, God is long suffering, God is patient, God is just, God is impartial, God is righteous, God is a healer, God is a redeemer, God is our refuge, God is our defender, God gives peace, God is our provider, God is our saviour,God is our father and mother, God has no beginning and no end, God is all-powerful, God is all-knowing, God is present everywhere ,God is eternal, God is our liberator, God is mighty,God is  trustworthy, etc., in this way God is known and called by His personality. So when such a trustworthy and mighty person is our God , our hearts rejoice. Moreover when we recall God's sacrifice on the cross for us we want to love Him more. When you pray keeping in mind the qualities of  God and pray.
