Today's Word of Blessing

DIVINE NATUREEvangeline Paul Dhinakaran

But just as he (God) who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do    (1 Peter 1:15)

The DhinakaransDearly beloved, the Scripture says, “His (God's) divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love” (II Peter 1:3-7).

As mentioned in the above Scripture verses, God gives you the divine attributes like faith, courage, wisdom, self control, perseverance, godliness and kindness.

Many sisters write to me saying, “I do not have patience. When my husband says something, immediately I retaliate. Please pray for me.”

Once, a sister wanted to talk to me over the phone. So I spoke to her. She said, “My husband is addicted to the evil habit of drinking liquor for the past couple of years. He also has wrong relationship with other women. He comes home very late. I am going through lot of agony. At the same time, I do not want to leave him also.” I asked her, “What will you do at such times?” Immediately she replied, “As soon as he comes home, I will scold him wholeheartedly. Only then I will go to sleep.”

I counseled her saying, “By scolding your husband, you cannot change him. The Lord has assured us that He will give us His divine nature. You need the necessary faith and confidence that the Lord will transform your husband.” She agreed to do whatever I said and assured me, “Sister, so far I have lived according to my own desire. Henceforth, I shall live as advised by you.

The Bible exhorts, “But just as he (God) who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do” (1 Peter 1:15). Therefore, surrender your life to God for your transformation. The Scripture says, “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The Lord will certainly grant you His divine nature. He will bless you with faith, courage, wisdom, self control, perseverance, godliness and kindness and enable you to lead a victorious life. May the Lord bless you with His loving kindness, everlasting love and divine nature and enable you to prosper in this year.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

You are holy and righteous. You have promised me to give me your Holy Spirit. I trust your promise. I submit my whole life to You and resolve to live according to your will. I will continue to trust in You and live by faith. Let your Holy Spirit guide me in my daily walk. Conform me into your likeness through your grace.

In Your matchless name I pray.

Amen.
