TODAY'S WORD OF BLESSING

GOD'S WONDERFUL COMFORTEvangeline Paul Dhinakaran

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.    (Isaiah 66:13)

The DhinakaransDearly beloved, it is our desire to keep our parents, spouse and children with us all the time. But this is not possible. Our Almighty God assures us that He will be with us wherever we go in this New Year. He will take care of us and watch over us all the time (Psalm 121:4).

David remembers the love of God and says the following. “For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12). Paul the Apostle and Timothy were closely associated with each other as they did the Lord’s ministry together. Paul was so attracted by the love of Lord Jesus that he declared, “For Christ’s love compels us” (II Corinthians 5:14).

We can never measure the love of God. His love is very deep indeed (Philippians 1:8). When we cry out to Him in agony, He will come down and rescue us. The Bible declares, “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17). God is full of love and He is with us to save us (I John 4:8,16).

One day, I was watching one of the Christian TV Programmes. In that programme, our dear Bro. Mohan C. Lazarus mentioned a verse from the Bible and narrated the following incident.

A sister, along with her husband and child, migrated to the United States of America from Sri Lanka. Her husband was the only earning member of the family. Suddenly, he passed away and this sister did not know what to do. She was all the time lamenting, “My husband was my only support in this place. There is no one to love us in this country. Now I cannot go back to my native place also. Who will take care of me and my child?” She was so depressed that she fell sick. She did not even know who her neighbour was. She was tormented by loneliness.

It was at this critical juncture Lord Jesus Christ came into her house in search of her. He helped her just like a mother would help her daughter. The irony is that the sister did not know anything about Lord Jesus. She was just watching Him doing all the work in her house. She did not dare to ask Him anything because she was afraid that He might leave her house.

After He finished all the work, that sister slowly asked Him, “Sir, You have been helping me just like a mother, who are You?” Lord Jesus smiled at her and replied, “I am Jesus who gave My life for you.” Then that sister said, “I do not know Jesus.” Lord Jesus looked at her and said, “Go to your neighbour’s house, get the Holy Bible from them and read it. Then you will know.” Saying this, Lord Jesus disappeared from that house. Immediately that sister rushed to her neighbour’s house, borrowed a Bible and started reading it. As she continued to read the Bible, she was filled with the love of God. The Lord also began to bless her. He blessed her with a job and through her earning, she was able to maintain her family. Then blessings began to increase in her family.

Dear friend, if Lord Jesus Christ could enter the house of a sister who did not know anything about Him and bless her, how much more He would bless us who love Him so much? He will certainly help us. If we have not tasted the divine love of God till now, He will come into our hearts this year to save us. He will surround us with His love.

The Lord says, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem" (Isaiah 66:13). “I, even I, am He who comforts you” (Isaiah 51:12). When this Lord is with us, we do not have to worry about anything. He will certainly comfort us in this New Year just like a mother and take care of us. Our God is the Almighty God and He is able to save us. His love is deeper than the love of a mother. He will surround us with His loving kindness.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

You are mighty to save. My help comes from You. I am lonely and fearful. Please come to my help. May your presence be with me. Take care of me and watch over me all the time. Bless me and surround me with your favor as with a shield. Your love is deeper than the love of a mother. Comfort me just like a mother. Surround me with your loving kindness.

In Your matchless name I pray.

Amen.
