DAILY MEDITATIONS #13 Friday 9.12.11

Daily Meditations  # 13, Friday   9.12.11

Jesus said to the crowds:
"To what shall I compare this generation?
It is like children who sit in marketplaces and call to one another,
"We played the flute for you, but you did not dance,
we sang a dirge but you did not mourn."
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they said,
"He is possessed by a demon."
The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they said,
"Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard,
a friend of tax collectors and sinners.'
But wisdom is vindicated by her works."   Mathew 11:16-19

John the Baptist was an ascetic and a recluse whereas Jesus mixed easily with everyone and lived a normal life. Both preached the same message and both lived righteous lives and preached repentance and a changed life to their hearers. People were not interested in their message because they were unwilling to repent and so they found some frivolous reason or the other to condemn them. God packages His message differently to suit different temperaments and match different needs and the people who deliver the message prove that they truly represent God by living a virtuous  life full of good deeds. People around us  may criticize us however good we may be to them for the simple reason that our lifestyle is different from theirs. We should not get discouraged since we are living according to the standards set by God.

God Bless.
