A reflection on today's Sacred Scripture:

In the Gospel for today and the days that follow, Jesus speaks of the end times. There are some really frightening things about what He says, but like many people, I don't close The Book and stop-up my ears; instead, I read on.

Jesus says, "Do not be terrified"
(see Luke 21:9) and reminds us that by "perseverance you will secure your lives." (see Luke 21:19)

So then, does that mean that in spite of all the scary things that are predicted we might survive?

Absolutely! But one of the operative words is "persevere"! That is, persevere in holiness and all that such perseverance requires.

Don't close The Book! Don't stop-up your ears! Read on and live the Gospel message!

"Not a hair on your head will be destroyed."
(see Luke 21:18)
