THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT ....... MONDAY
LUKE 4:24-30 .........
When Jesus declared himself to be the 'Anointed One', 'The Messiah' as stated in Isaiah 61:1-2 to his fellow villagers in the synagogue, they were terribly outraged and tried to kill him. Jesus did not take offence but silently left the place for he was aware that according to human nature ,a prophet is not welcome in his own home or town.Familiarity breeds contempt and weakens faith. A receptive mind and nondiscriminatory attitude is essential for development of fervent faith and belief. The message is important and not the personal details of the messenger.Jesus was rejected because of jealousy that he being only a carpenter's son should possess so much talent and ambition. Jesus begins to shoulder the cross of prejudice and rejection by his own people, something we are also familiar with. Let us ask God to give us the strength to forgive and carry on.
God Bless
