JOHN 5:31-47 YOU PLACE YOUR HOPE IN MOSES, AND MOSES WILL BE YOUR ACCUSER.
There are people who are upright and very moral, all because of self-love and a desire to win admiration from others. The Pharisees were strictly observant of the Law and vainly proud of it. They had no love of God in their hearts even though they were scripture scholars.One can be thorough about the Bible from cover to cover, even be a prayer-warrior, and make a pretense of piety but still be worldly.It is not enough to know about God but one should know God and love him. The Pharisees misinterpreted the old testament prophecies and therefore could not identify Jesus as the Messiah. But Peter because he sincerely loved Jesus and under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit identified him as the Messiah, the Son Of God.
One should approach the scriptures with a humble and loving attitude and totally depend upon the Holy Spirit for guidance and revelation. Knowing the Scriptures for the purpose of loving God and obeying his commandments keeps us away from many errors and pitfalls. God himself speaks to us in the Bible.
"By your words I can see where I'm going;

" I will give you knowledge, teaching you the way to go; my eyes will be your guide. " Psalm 32:8
