GIVER AND HIS GIFTS
- Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
Jesus Christ states, "God – the heavenly Father, always gives good gifts to His children" (Matthew 7:11). God – the Giver, has not only given us good gifts but along with those choicest blessings, He has also offered His only begotten Son Jesus Christ – the indescribable gift, to us as recorded in Romans 8:32. When Jesus Christ dwells in your house then automatically all the other gifts follow you. For it is stated "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33).
Once we visited France and there we lived in the house of a certain family. The woman in that house was suddenly admitted in a hospital and she delivered a boy child. We bought some gifts for the child and visited the hospital to see her and the new born. As we tried to step inside the room where that mother and child were, there were huge boxes placed outside. When we questioned as to what those boxes contained, we were told, "These are gifts from the Government of France to the newly born babe." In France, people stay together as man and woman but they do not get married. The probability of begetting a child among such people who live together is low. Therefore, in France, the population rate is extremely low. On the contrary, the number of foreign children is on the increase. Given these circumstances, the Government of France is encouraging French children to be born. So, when a child is born, the French Government is exceedingly happy. The requirements of the child such as all sorts of toys, food, dress, bed and so on for three months are gifted by the Government. Moreover, the Government of France encourages a man and woman to get married by granting them three months pay. Besides this, the father is also given free pay for three months to stay at home and take care of the mother and the child. So that particular family which we visited was blessed with a boy baby and along with that they received gifts from the Government of France which that boy would require for the next three months.
In the same way, when we receive Jesus Christ – the only Son of God, the indescribable gift in our hearts, along with Him God gives free gifts to us. When we receive Jesus Christ, our eyes are not focused on the free gifts but it is fixed upon the indescribable gift – Jesus Christ alone. If you have Jesus Christ then you will have everything. You will have nothing to worry about. On this blessed day, just open your heart and utter, "Lord Jesus Christ, You are the most indescribable gift I can have on this earth." It is enough if Jesus Christ comes into you because He will grant you everything that you need to live in this earth. Turn your eyes towards this INDESCRIBABLE GIFT – JESUS CHRIST (2 Corinthians 9:15).
Prayer:
Our heavenly Father,
I confess that those who seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, will have all the other good things added to them. Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You. You are the incomparable God who always give good gifts to Your children. May my eyes always be fixed on You –the Giver of everything and not upon the gifts. Give me the grace not to depart from Your paths of righteousness. On this wonderful day, fill me with the anointing of the Holy Spirit and make me happy.
In the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I pray.
Amen.
