DAILY VERSE Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 DAILY QUOTE One thing taught large in the Holy Scriptures is that while God gives His gifts freely, He will require a strict accounting of them at the end of the road. Each man is personally responsible for his store, be it large or small, and will be required to explain his use of it before the judgment seat of Christ. A.W. Tozer DAILY THOUGHT There is a familiar story of three men who were given varying talents by their master. (See Matthew 25:14–30.) The man with the most talents did the most. Not surprising. The man with the second most talents came in second place. Not unexpected. The third man did absolutely nothing. Of course. He didn't have enough to make a difference. When the master saw that he had buried what was given to him, he took it away. Is that fair? What if he had lost the meager amount on a bad investment? Wouldn't he have been in bigger trouble? Jesus' story doesn't seem to indicate that. He says nothing about being judged on the basis of failing. Judgment is based on doing nothing, burying the talents God has given us. What resources has God given you to work with in life? Has He given you a lot or a little or something in between? Your answer isn't important. All that matters is what you're going to do with what you've got. What investment do you need to make in your world? Lord, help me to conquer fear and use my talents for good—for You. Thank You for blessing me. Amen. |
