FOURTH WEEK OF LENT..........MONDAY 04.04.11
JOHN 4:43-54 ....... GO HOME, YOUR SON WILL LIVE.
The royal official was most desperate for a cure for his dying son. Being a man of wealth and influence he must have tried various doctors and other means to make his son live. Finally as a last resort he implores Jesus to 'come home and cure his son.' Jesus perceived that this man was not looking for 'signs and portents' but had a latent faith in Jesus. Therefore in order to strengthen and test his belief further, Jesus instead of going to his house, just tells him to go home and believe his son will live. The official did not wait for the miracle to happen right in front of his eyes, but readily believes the power of Jesus' word and later hears from his servants of the miracle that had already taken place in his home. The bible consists of so many promises, but the question is whether we have sufficient faith and belief in those promises of God, or do we wait till the actual promises to take place before we believe in God's word ?
Do you believe that all your sins have been forgiven by God the moment you sinserely repent ? Have you experienced the total joy and the sense of freedom that comes when all your sins are forgiven during this Lenten season ? We believe that God forgives according to his great mercy and only later we feel the joy of it in our hearts. This is one of the great miracles that is unseen.
"And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." Romans 5:5
