DAILY MEDITATIONS  # 19,  Thursday, 15.12.11

Luke 7:24-30

" Believe me, no one greater than John has ever been born of women, and yet a humble member of the kingdom of God is greater than he. " Luke 7:28

We are reborn in  God when we become believers and followers of Jesus Christ and so we can rightfully claim to be God's own children. In God's kingdom, God is our Father and Mother, God is our spouse, God is our lover, and God and God alone becomes everything to us. The infinite richness of God's love is continuously poured upon us. God's divine love never disappoints like human love which many a times is fickle.

In today's First Reading Isaiah beautifully brings out some of the aspects of God's love....

For he who has become your husband is your Maker;

The LORD calls you back,
like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit,
A wife married in youth and then cast off,
says your God.

For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with great tenderness I will take you back.
In an outburst of wrath, for a moment
I hid my face from you;
But with enduring love I take pity on you,
says the LORD, your redeemer.

So I have sworn not to be angry with you,
or to rebuke you.
Though the mountains leave their place
and the hills be shaken,
My love shall never leave you
nor my covenant of peace be shaken,
says the LORD, who has mercy on you.              ( Selections from Isaiah 54:1-10 )

“Can a woman forget her nursing child
         And have no compassion on the son of her womb?
         Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.

16“Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
         Your walls ( your memories ) are continually before Me.                                     ( Isaiah 49:15-16 )

GOD'S LOVE FOR US IS AWESOME INDEED !
