LUKE 9:22-25
The command is given to follow the teachings and example of Christ. When we follow what Christ taught in the beatitudes ( Whole of Mathew Chapter 5 ) we are sure to encounter a lot of difficulties both for ourselves and for our families besides being considered 'unpractical ' and foolish by worldly standards. Christ is referring specifically to these crosses when he exhorts us to ' take up the cross everyday and follow me '. When we carry such crosses , we lose our false- self (ego ) and gain peace of God which this world cannot give. This great peace and joy within us (our real self created in the image of God ) continues into eternity with God. This is the promise and blessing of Christ to all his faithful followers in the beginning of this Lenten season.
Christ who died for our sins on the cross, rose from the dead to be seated at the right-hand of God and pleads powerfully with God to give us the necessary strength and grace to follow his teachings and example.
GOD BLESS
