ON BEING PATIENT James 5:8 "You, too, must be patient. Don't give up hope. The Lord will soon be here" (NLT) "Meanwhile, friends, wait patiently for the Master's Arrival. You see farmers do this all the time, waiting for their valuable crops to mature, patiently letting the rain do its slow but sure work. Be patient like that. Stay steady and strong. The Master could arrive at any time" (The Message). It appears patience and faith go together. This is true both in our everyday life and also in spiritual matters.Patience is also all about proper timing. The farmer prepares the field (takes time), scatters the rice seeds,waters the field, transplants the seedlings,removes the weeds, applies manure, fertilisers,pesticides in stages (takes time), irrigates the field and waits for the monsoon rains, watches over the crop as it grows (takes time) and in due season reaps the harvest. Obviously there are no instant crops ! Everything takes a lot of time and among other things the farmer is expected to have loads of patience. Similarly spiritual maturity takes a much more longer time and in between there are lots of disappointments and discouragements. When we pray and make known our needs to God we expect that He should answer our prayers instantly. God fulfills all our needs like personal salvation,success in studies, a good job,suitable marriage partner,children,good health,peace of mind etc.provided we also make our sincere efforts.He listens to all our prayers instantly ( in fact He knows our needs much before us) and answers them in due season.In other words the answers to our prayers get manifested in the physical level according to God's own timing.That is the reason God wants us to wait patiently to receive His blessings and not to be discouraged if in our thinking there appears to be a delay.However in God's thinking there is no delay since He sends the blessings at the proper time.God's sense of timing is the best for us. All this understanding requires a lot of faith and faith grows over a period of time.Faith is a gift of God and we should ask God to give us this gift first. Faith should be strengthened by regular prayers, meditation on the Word of God and a life in obedience to God's will. Faith and patience are twins. The Bible is full of miracles for those who waited and trusted patiently in God's promises.God will certainly bless us, but at His time.He keeps eternal watch over us.He will never, never, allow the boat to sink. Smile God cares for you and loves you. Even if a mother forgets her child at the breast,I will never forget you says the Lord. Mdp khjk; 26k; jpfjp
