MERCY - Sis. Stella Dhinakaran While Jesus and His disciples came to Jericho, Bartimaeus, a blind man began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me". (Mark 10:46-52). Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, 'Cheer up!" On your feet! He's calling you." Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped at his feet and came to Jesus. "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." Since Jesus was merciful towards him, He told, "Go, your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. "…those who seek the Lord shall lack no good thing" (Psalm 34:10).
Dear Friend, are you lamenting today, "I am blind though I have eyes. I am a sinner"? Today cry out to God, "Son of David, have mercy on me according to Your abundant grace." It is stated in the Bible, "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God" (1 Corinthians 4:4). "The enemy pursues me, he crushed me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead". (Psalm 143:3). As mentioned in the above Scripture verses, the enemy makes us dwell in darkness quite often.
In the Old Testament times, there lived a man called Samson who was filled with the power of God. When he revealed the secret of his divine strength, the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding in the prison (Judges 14-16 chapters). You ought to be very careful when you say that you have been anointed and you are doing God's ministry. If you have any secret sins in your life, surrender your life totally to God. "For the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23). "The soul who sins is the one who will die" (Ezekiel 18:20). Although the above mentioned Scripture verses strictly warn us, the Bible says in the following verse, "….where sin increased, grace increased all the more" (Romans 5:20). So cry out to God like Bartimeaus and David saying, "Oh Lord, have mercy on me." Then He shall certainly have mercy on you. He shall forgive you, fill you with His grace and crown you with His mercy. "For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:6). According to the above Scripture verse, the light of the knowledge of His glory shall dispel all darkness in your life. The Lord transforms us who were objects of wrath (Ephesians 2:3) into objects of mercy (Romans 9:23).
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus Christ,
You have promised to give anything that we ask in Your name according to Your will. Give me the grace to know Your perfect will for my life and ask those things that would establish Your kingdom on earth. Help me to seek the kingdom of God and its righteousness first, in all that I do. I believe that You grant perfect joy to those who seek Your favour. Help me make my supplications to You with praise and thanksgiving in my heart.
In Your matchless name I pray.
Amen |
